For this reason, we have looked for compounds that act selectively and, when combined with an androgenic receptor, have only an anabolic effect, not an androgenic effect or have only minor androgenic effect. This is how selective modulators of the androgen receptor were isolated. Ligandrol (LGD-4033) is among the best studied and most commonly used ones. The studies proved its efficiency compared to placebo. Moreover, it is believed to be the strongest compound of this group. Also popular is ibutamorene – MK-677. It is an analogue of ghrelin and causes increased secretion of growth hormone by the anterior pituitary lobe.
Due to their action, both compounds are used in the treatment of muscle atrophy and osteoporosis. They are also used by bodybuilders and other athletes who want to build muscle mass and increase strength. In combination with strength training they support hypertrophy of muscle tissue and enable faster results.
