When brushing your teeth, hardly anyone remembers to clean your tongue as well. And it is on it that many microorganisms contribute to the formation of odor from the mouth. Brushing the tongue helps to a large extent to inhibit the development of bacteria nesting in the mouth. So how do you clean your tongue so that it is not irritated and the effects will last for a long time? Is an electric or manual toothbrush suitable?
Proper care
The same rules apply to tongue cleaning as to toothbrushing. You should therefore brush your tongue as often as your teeth, i.e. at least twice a day. If you want to have a fresh breath, you should repeat it after each meal, i.e. three to five times a day. A regular manual toothbrush or electric toothbrushes with a special overlay or washing mode are enough to clean.
Diet also has a huge impact on the health and condition of the tongue. We know for a long time that it influences literally everything that is connected with the human body. It must provide the optimal amount of water for the body. The best thing works best is this ordinary one, which does not contain any flavor or sweeteners. You should drink at least 2 litres of water every day. This will prevent dehydration, which is one of the causes of bad breath.
Flossing also has a positive effect on the condition of the tongue. So it’s worth getting used to flossing before each brushing. It cleans teeth perfectly and removes bacteria. The tongue also likes to rinse, because by rinsing the mouth with mint or alcoholic preparations, we can relieve irritation and easily get rid of bacteria.
What kind of toothbrush for the tongue?
Brushing your tongue should not be omitted, although unfortunately many people do not. People think that oral care should be all about brushing their teeth. However, brushing the tongue additionally gains fresh breath, removes most of the bacteria and prevents many diseases, including serious ones. You can brush your tongue just after brushing your teeth – a simple toothbrush soaked in water and covered with a proper toothpaste. It is advisable to use soft bristled toothbrushes to clean your tongue, which prevents irritation. Users of electric toothbrushes will need a special overlay for tongue care.
